History and Culture: “Icons of Saints” exhibition mounted in the Azov Museum-Reserve

A new exhibition “Saints of Icons” opened in the Azov Museum-Reserve (Rostov Region) on October 17, 2018. The exhibition showcases the museum’s icon and religious copper-casting collection of 19th-20th cc. This is not the first display of Orthodox symbols at the museum, new notable items regularly enter the collection. The exhibition showcases over 200 exhibits: icons, folding icons and crosses. Most icons on display were painted in late 19th century in Central Russia, although there are also examples of icon-painting of the North and Don (Rostov Region). The exhibition will be open through February 19, 2019.
