History of Russia: Exhibition focused on Konstantin Makovsky’s painting “Ivan Susanin” to open in Moscow on the National Unity Day

In commemoration of the National Unity Day, on November 4, 2018 the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) is presenting an exhibition, that turns the spotlight on the painting of Konstantin Makovsky (1839–1915) “Ivan Susanin”. This painting was completed in 1914 shortly before the artist’s death. The artist was going to finish it in time for the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov, but failed.
