Regions of Russia: Exhibition “Along the Volga and the Caspian Sea”: Heritage of the Silk Road” staged in Kazan

The Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve’s Manege Exhibition Hall has staged the exhibition “Along the Volga and the Caspian Sea: Heritage of the Silk Road”, which showcases exhibits on loan from the Russian Museum of Ethnography (St. Petersburg).

The exhibits on display give an insight into the cultural diversity and everyday life of peoples, who lived by the ancient caravan trade road. They feature a wide variety of rarities – carpets from the Caucasus, textiles from Central Asia, jewelry of Kazan Tatars, carved and painted wooden items of Nizhniy Novgorod etc.

On display are over 400 items dating from 2nd half of 19th — early 20th century, which represent more than 30 peoples of Russia.
