The Maps Department of the Russian State Library (Moscow) has mounted the exhibition “Maps as Time Witnesses. Cartographic Agitprop: The 1917—1940 Soviet Map Posters”.
In the Soviet Union maps were always widely regarded as a powerful propaganda weapon, that was used to promote the introduction of new ideology, encourage people to develop country’s vast lands and glorify the success of socialism.
