20 December 2018

On December 20, 2018 the Sholokhov Center of M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in Rostov-on-Don is mounting a new exhibition “My Dear Family…”. The display presents unique memorial items, which will help visitors step into the world of the great writer’s family, enjoy the hospitable atmosphere of the estate in Vyoshenskaya stanitsa (rural locality), where the Sholokhov family lived since 1949.

Mikhail Alexandrovich and Maria Petrovna Sholokhov had lived happily together for 60 years and brought up 4 children. The writer’s family had a tradition of sending New Year greeting cards to relatives and friends. The Sholokhovs received a lot of cards too. The exhibition showcases greeting cards dating from the 1950s – 1980s from the museum’s collections. One of the halls is dedicated to M. A. Sholokhov’s library, which by the 1980s had housed more than 6,000 books.

The exhibition “My Dear Family…” will be on in the Sholokhov Center through February 24, 2019.
