Exhibitions: Religious wooden sculpture on display as part of the “Christ in the Dungeon” exhibition in St. Petersburg

A new exhibition “Christ in the Dungeon” was staged on January 16, 2019 in the Manege Central Exhibition Hall. The display presents religious wooden sculptures on loan from fourteen museums of Russia. Orthodox church wooden sculpture is a major phenomenon in Russian art. Along with icons and works of decorative and applied art, it was part of artistic ensembles of churches and chapels.
