The Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve presents an exhibition “Russian Paper Money. Marking 250 Years since the Issue of First Assignation Roubles” in the Vladimir Historical Museum. It showcases 11 assignation roubles dating from 1813–1840 and coins of that time from the museum collection.
The first paper money was issued in Russia in the late 18th century: in 1769 Empress Catherine II issued a manifesto on the introduction of new banknotes, known as assignation roubles.
