The Year of Theatre in Russia 2019: “Under the Shelter of Melpomene” exhibition kicked off in St. Petersburg

The National Library of Russia, Manuscripts Department (St. Petersburg) presents the exhibition “Under the Shelter of Melpomene”, which spotlights the history of Russian theatre.

The materials on display date from 18th–20th c. The exhibition is divided into the following main sections: history and foundation of theatre in Russia, imperial and private theatres, repertoire, censorship, acting and the art of ballet. The exhibition will run until April 20.
