IT and Culture: Online archive and database of manuscripts of Dante’s The Divine Comedy to be created within a new project

The University of Naples Federico II is working on Illuminated Dante Project that involves the creation of an online archive and a codicological and iconographic database of all the ancient manuscripts of The Divine Comedy by Dante provided with images related to the text of the poem.

The project will make use of about 280 manuscripts dated between the 14th and 15th centuries preserved in libraries, museums, public and private archives around the world. The project will be completed on the occasion of the 7th centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri in 2021.
