Society and Culture: Works of socialist realism from ROSIZO Center’s collection on display as part of “The City of the Sun” exhibition in Astrakhan

The Dogadin Astrakhan Art Gallery presents an exhibition of works of socialist realism under the title “The City of the Sun”. The exposition features paintings, graphic works, sculptures, works of decorative and applied art from the collection of the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Center, which revive the atmosphere of the life in Soviet times in the 1930s-1950s.

About 40 large-scale paintings, Soviet posters, sculptures by such celebrated artists as Yekaterina Zernova, Vladimir Lyushin, Nikolai Schneider, Viktor Midler, Viktor Deni (Denisov), Vera Mukhina, Nikolai Tomsky and others, portray the utopian "City of the Sun" - a model of “the better tomorrow of communism”, which had been built by the USSR since its foundation.

The exhibition will be open until June 26, 2019.
