History and Culture: Monuments of Russian icon-painting on display as part of “A Stairway to Heaven” exhibition in Moscow

The Central Andrey Rublev Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art (Moscow) presents the exhibition “A Stairway to Heaven. Icons from the Collection of Viktor Bondarenko”.

Monuments of Russian icon-painting amassed by collector V. Bondarenko for the past two years are practically unknown to the general public. They include works, which date from the late Middle Ages ahead of the Petrine reforms (17th c.), many icons of the Modern history (18th – early 20th c.), including icons made by masters, who were old believers.

The exhibition will be open until June 30, 2019.
