History and culture: The exhibition “Time Keepers. Restoration in the Moscow Kremlin Museums"

12 July 2019

The exhibition “Time Keepers. Restoration in the Moscow Kremlin Museums” is underway in the exhibition hall of the Assumption Belfry and the exhibition hall of the Patriarch's Palace.

The exhibition displays unique exhibits - state regalia, personal belongings of monarchs, ceremonial weapons, ancient icons, magnificent products made by Russian and Western European jewelers. Masters of various areas took part in the restoration of these objects: specialists in metal, fabrics, paper, tempera and oil painting. Their work allowed not only removing the patina of time from museum monuments, but also often to give them a second life: to return almost lost appearance, to find the name of the author, to write the thing into a specific historical context - to connect it with an outstanding personality or significant event of our history.
