World History: Exhibition “Napoleon. Life and Fate” to open in Moscow

22 May 2019

The exhibition "Napoleon. Life and Fate” will run from May 22 to June 21, 2019 in the Muravyov-Apostol Museum-Estate in Moscow. The large-scale exposition features more than 200 items, including paintings, graphic works, sculptures, works of decorative and applied art, memorabilia, weapons, orders and medals. Many objects dating from the early 19th century will go on display for the first time. The French Emperor proposed to sisters of the Russian Tsar Alexander I, and his offers of marriage were refused twice. The 250th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte’s birth is marked this year. The exhibition project based on Alexander Vikhrov’s private collection and several other large private collections gives a chance to build up a portrait of a man, who was turned down by Russia.
