Memory of Russia: Monument to Mikhail Kalashnikov unveiled in Moscow Region

The monument to the weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov was solemnly unveiled in Kolomna, Moscow Region. The project was implemented by the Russian Military and Historical Society within the “Culture” national project.

The opening of the monument was timed to coincide with the centenary of the birth of the prominent weapons designer, which is marked in 2019. The order on celebration of Mikhail Kalashnikov’s anniversary is signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The solemn ceremony was attended by Elena Kalashnikova, the designer’s daughter. She expressed her gratitude for the creation of the monument and shared the memories of her father.
