History and Culture: Exhibition “Russian Miniature Icon Painting” staged in St. Petersburg

The exhibition “Russian Miniature Icon Painting” from the Moscow State Museum-Reserve (Kolomenskoye) is opening on June 5, 2019 in the Church of the Resurrection (Savior on the Spilled Blood) in St. Petersburg.

The exhibition of Russian icons aims to show the beauty of ancient art to the public. Icons painted in miniature technique have been known in Russia since the first centuries of the adoption of Christianity. There are more than 40 monuments on display, which date from 16th – early 20th century. Nine of them have never been displayed before. 

The exhibition will run until August 22, 2019.
