Book Monuments: The Tretyakov Gallery presents the exhibition “Piscator’s Bible. The Bible for Russian Icon Painters”

26 June 2019

On June 26, 2019 the Tretyakov Gallery (the Main Building, Lavrushinsky Lane) is presenting the exhibition “Piscator’s Bible. The Bible for Russian Icon Painters”.

Piscator’s Bible was widely distributed in Russia and, like other engraved Western European editions of the Bible, was not only a subject of admiration at tsarist, boyar and merchant chambers, but also an important source of iconography for Russian miniaturists, icon painters and masters of monumental painting of the Middle Ages and the Modern era.
