20 June 2019
The virtual exhibition “Russian Theatrical Traditions Preserved by Émigrés”, which is timed to the Year of Theater in Russia, is launched on the portal of Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad.
The theatrical life of émigrés was rather eventful and diverse. Performances, which were staged in Russian theaters in Paris, Berlin, Prague, Harbin, Tallinn and other cities, were big success. The performances were based not only on plays of émigré authors, but also on works of Soviet playwrights, in particular The Days of the Turbins, Zoyka’s Apartment, The Cabal of the Hypocrites by M. Bulgakov, Envy by Yu. Olesha etc.
