The Library of Congress has made the papers of the U.S. President James Abraham Garfield available online.

James Abraham Garfield (November 19, 1831 — September 19, 1881) — was the 20th president of the USA (March — September 1881). James A. Garfield Papers Collection consists of approximately 80,000 items, with the bulk dating from 1850 to 1881.

The collection contains correspondence, diaries, speeches, records of his Civil War military service, legal records, genealogical material, scrapbooks, financial papers and other material relating primarily to Garfield’s career and death.
