Memory of Russia and the World: Exhibition “The Roads of Language and Literature” to kick off in St. Petersburg as part of Alexander Blok Memorial Day
The Alexander Blok Memorial Day is traditionally marked on August 7 in the Blok Apartment Museum. This year sees the 98th anniversary of the poet’s death. Ahead of the anniversary the museum prepared a special program, which includes: a moment of silence in Alexander Blok’s last apartment, a bus and walking tour around the city, a memorial service in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ at Smolensky Cemetery, and a literary evening.
The Alexander Blok Apartment Museum will also present the exhibition “The Roads of Language and Literature”. Six museums from five countries have teamed up to arrange the exhibition, which is part of their efforts to preserve, explore and popularize the cultural heritage. The exhibition spotlights the life and works of poets, who had a great influence on the development of the national literature: Pushkin, Rainis, Donelaitis , Maironis, Kupala, and Mickiewicz.
