Museums and Society: Exhibition “A Renaissance Model of the Universe. The 16th Century Astronomical Clock in the State Hermitage Museum” to kick off in St. Petersburg

On September 20, 2019 the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg) is staging the exhibition “A Renaissance Model of the Universe. The 16th Century Astronomical Clock in the State Hermitage Museum”.

The device was made in 1584 by famous Augsburg craftsmen, Georg Roll and Johannes Reinhold. Five other similar devices, whose state of preservation differs, are housed today in the museums of Europe.
