Commemorative dates in Russia: Exhibition “Invention of the Universe” marking the 180th anniversary of the Pulkovo Observatory mounted in St. Petersburg

On September 26, 2019 the National Library of Russia (New Building) in St. Petersburg presented the exhibition “Invention of the Universe”, which is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the Pulkovo Observatory.

On display are works by the ancient Greek scientist Ptolemy, German astronomer and mathematician Regiomontanus, Copernicus, Bruno, Galilei. Visitors will also learn about eclipses, comets, meteorites and meteor showers.

Materials on display are from the Russian and Foreign Books Collections of the National Library of Russia.

The exhibition will be open until October 27.
