Society and Book Culture: Exhibition “Private Libraries of Russian Estates” staged in St. Petersburg

The exhibition “Private Libraries of Russian Estates” will be open in the State Museum of the History of Religion (St. Petersburg) until November 24, 2019.

Private libraries are in the spotlight of the exhibition. These book collections provide unique information concerning the originality of culture and the mindset of people, and give an opportunity to discover the spirit of the times. The owners of these collections were people of different social status and estates: members of the imperial family, the nobility, statesmen and officials, clergy, urban commoners, military, merchants, peasants, and intelligentsia.

The exhibition showcases books from the Museum of the History of Religion Research Library.
