World Culture: Exhibition “Matisse. Picasso. Chagall…” to kick off at the Hermitage-Kazan Exhibition Centre

On October 25, 2019 the Hermitage-Kazan Exhibition Centre is presenting the exhibition “Matisse. Picasso. Chagall… Western European Art of the 1910s-1940s in the Hermitage Collection”. The exhibition is held within the Hermitage Days in Kazan.

This exhibition is the first attempt to present European art of the 1910s – 1940s through the example of works from the Hermitage collections. The exposition does not only feature traditional works of painting, sculpture and graphic art. A considerable part of it is built up of pieces belonging to a new art form of the 20th century known as the livre d’artiste or artist’s book.
