History and Culture: The National Library of Russia mounts the exhibition “The Novgorod Saints” as part of the Brazhnikov Symposium 2019

On November 6, 2019 the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg (Manuscripts Department) is mounting the exhibition “The Novgorod Saints”, which is part of the International Brazhnikov Symposium 2019.

Manuscripts of the 15th-18th centuries, which include hagiographies, texts of services for Novgorod saints, and miniatures with their portraits, have been put on display for the first time.

The symposium is held every year in memory of Maxim Brazhnikov (1904-1973), a prominent Soviet specialist in ancient Russian music.
