Museums and Society: More than 400 artifacts from the Hermitage collections go on display at the new Hermitage-Siberia Center in Omsk

7 November 2019

The 4th Hermitage Days in Omsk will take place November 6 - 11, 2019 in the Omsk Regional Vrubel Museum of Fine Arts ahead of the 95th anniversary of the museum.

The central event of the programme is the inauguration of the Hermitage-Siberia Center – the official branch of the State Hermitage Museum. Omsk is the third city in our country, where the branch is opened. It gives new opportunities for the development of museums in the region. Every year the Center will host exhibitions from St. Petersburg and attract residents of Omsk, Siberian Federal District and the Republic of Kazakhstan, who will have an opportunity to learn more about the masterpieces of art and discover the unique heritage of the world culture within the region boundary. The exhibition “Clenching the Sword... The Military Culture and Weaponry of the Middle East” from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum will be mounted on November 8.
