Russian Language and Society: Monument to Vladimir Dal’s Explanatory Dictionary of the Great Russian Language unveiled in Orenburg

A monument to Vladimir Dal’s Explanatory Dictionary of the Great Russian Language was unveiled in Orenburg a week ahead of the birthday of Vladimir Dal, the compiler of the major book of the Russian language. The art object became the winner of the “Cultural Heritage” National Contest of Ideas for New Sights and received the Presidential grant.

Over the years the National Dictionary Day has been marked on November 22 – the day, when the lexicographer was born.
