Year of Theatre in Russia 2019: Exhibition “The Golden Age of Leningrad Theatre Posters. The 1950s-1980s” staged in St. Petersburg

The exhibition “The Golden Age of Leningrad Theatre Posters. The 1950s-1980s” will be staged at the Peter and Paul Fortress until May 10, 2020.

The exhibition showcases about 100 theatre posters from the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, sketches of stage scenery, original theatrical costumes. Most of the exhibits have never been displayed before.

The history of Leningrad theatre posters features two major periods. The 1920s – 1930s witnessed the time of great achievements. The exhibition at the Peter and Paul Fortress spotlights the period between the 1950s and the 1980s, which marked the second flowering of Leningrad theatre posters.
