Memorable dates of Russia: The exhibition "New Discoveries of Ancient Novgorod... Marking the 900th anniversary of St. George Cathedral"

December 27, 2019, the exhibition “New Discoveries of Ancient Novgorod: the Annunciation Church on the Settlement and the St. George Cathedral of the St. George Monastery was opened in the main building of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve. Marking the 900th anniversary of St. George’s Cathedral". The exhibition is based on archaeological finds discovered during excavations of these two oldest Novgorod temples, conducted in 2000-2019. The exhibition features more than a hundred exhibits, many of which visitors will see for the first time: fragments of ancient wall paintings and graffiti, mosaic smalt, objects from burials (leather analogs, belt and shoes). The monuments included in the exhibition are specially restored in the workshops of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve, fragments of frescoes are exhibited during the selection process. The exhibition will run until March 9.
