Libraries of Russia: Samara Regional Universal Scientific Library celebrates its 160th anniversary with the special Anniversary year
On January 14, 2020, the Samara Regional Universal Scientific Library began to celebrate its 160th anniversary (foundation date is January 13, 1860). During the “Breakfast in the Library” Natalya Malkova, acting director of the central library of the region told the media about the most significant events planned for this year.
Throughout 2020, the library will invite its readers and residents of Samara and the region to interesting events dedicated to the anniversary.
– The Museum and Exhibition Center for Book Culture, which promises to become a significant landmark of Samara, will be opened. Today, library guests can get familiar with a part of this center – the “Prepress Book” space.
– In May 2020, Samara will host the Grotovskaya Assembly, which will bring together scientists, young researchers, and key specialists in the field of book culture from all over the country.
– In early autumn, the library planned to hold a big book festival, which will take place on one of the squares of Samara.
– A new format of the excursion “From papyrus to digital format”, during which it is possible to hold old books in hands was launched.
– The anniversary year will end with a Christmas ball.
