Internet and Regions of Russia: An Internet portal ”Discover Moscow” features a new option - an augmented reality tour

An Internet portal ”Discover Moscow” features a new option. The user just needs to point the smartphone’s camera at it to find out information about an object during a walk. The mode of the augmented reality features information about houses and monuments within a radius of 150 meters. This function is available in the application after the recent updating.

To launch the AR option, the user must enter the “Discover Moscow” application, and then select it in the main menu, and approve access to the camera. It can be also done by opening the map on the main page of the application and clicking on the AR icon, which is placed in the upper right corner of the screen.

After switching to the AR mode, the application will switch the smartphone’s camera on. The entitled pointers with the distance indicator will appear on the screen while approaching the objects.

The “Discover Moscow” mobile application can be downloaded and installed on the smartphone at the App Store or Google Play. The mobile application has been updated recently. Now users can compile personal collections of buildings, monuments, and routes, filter objects by architectural style or year of construction, and view personal statistics.
