Peoples of Russia: "Visiting Tatars" exhibition to open in Yekaterinburg

4 February 2020

The “Visiting Tatars” exhibition was opened in the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. It launches a series of more than 30 cultural events in Sverdlovsk Region, marking the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Tatarstan.

“Visiting the Tatars” is the third project in Yekaterinburg, arranged by the Yelabuga Museum-Reserve. For example, from July to September 2019, Yekaterinburg hosted the “Multicolor Tatar Culture” exhibition.

The exhibition contains 112 works of fine art (the result of 14 international symposia) and 68 objects of decorative and applied art (decorative panels, hats, handbags decorated in the leather mosaic technique, handmade dolls). The exhibits tell about the rites and customs of the Tatar people and feature the traditional national culture.
