Marking the Year of Memory and Glory: “We Fought Against Nazism Together” exhibition opened at the Russian State Library in Moscow

On February 1, 2020, “We Fought Against Nazism Together” exhibition was opened in the department of official and normative publications of the Russian State Library (Moscow). It is one of the key thematic exhibitions of the year. It will run until the end of 2020.

In 2020, the countries-participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States celebrate one of the great dates for the peoples of the CIS, the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. By a CIS decision (October 11, 2017), 2020 was declared the Year of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) in the Commonwealth.

The first exhibition section contains the CIS documents on the rights of the Great Patriotic War veterans.

2020 has been declared the Year of Memory and Glory in the Russian Federation, according to Decree No. 327 of July 8, 2019, by the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Therefore, the second exhibition section features documents spotlighting the situation in the Soviet Union on the eve of the war, events of the first, second and third periods of the Great Patriotic War, military and political results and lessons of the war.

The largest, third, exhibition section is entitled “The Great War Routes”. This section is focusing on the war events: the defence of the Brest Fortress, the great battles near Moscow, the Siege of Leningrad, the Belarusian village of Khatyn tragedy, the battles on the Dnieper River, of Kursk, Sevastopol, Crimea, Berlin.

The exhibition is organized together with the CIS Executive Committee.
