“Regimental Shrine. The history of the Selenginsky regiment” exhibition was opened in the year of the 165th anniversary of the heroic defence of Sevastopol in the "Battle of Borodino" Museum-Panorama (Moscow).

It features an amazing fate of one of the oldest regiments of the Russian army - the 41st Selenginsky Infantry Regiment, whose history is closely connected with the events of the Patriotic War of 1812, and the Crimean War of 1853-1855, and other military conflicts of the XIX century.

For the first time, it showcases an icon of the Mother of God of the Pechora, which is a relic from the National Museum of the Republic of Buryatia. The icon is a gift of the Selenginsky Infantry Regiment to residents of the city of Selenginsk. It was found 166 years ago in the Crimea, near Sevastopol. The face of St. Theodosius, who is also painted on the icon, was shot right through.
