Society and Culture: "Fatherland. History. Geography" exhibition of works by sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov presented in Moscow
On February 26, 2020, the Russian Academy of Arts opened “Fatherland. History. Geography" exhibition of works by the famous Russian sculptor, People’s Artist of Russia, academician, and the Russian Academy of Arts Presidium member, Professor Salavat Aleksandrovich Shcherbakov.
The sculptor is an author of monuments, architectural and sculptural ensembles, decorative sculptural compositions, memorial monuments. He has designed more than ten museums and public buildings unique interiors. The best works entered the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Kremlin Armoury, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the State Russian Museum, and many Russian and foreign museums, private galleries in Sweden, France, Belgium, Holland, USA, Australia.
Salavat Shcherbakov created many sculptural compositions devoted to key events in Russian history, monuments to Russian statesmen, scientists, astronauts, historical personalities, famous people of culture and art.
The exhibition features the working process and the realization of the author’s idea on the example of the monument "We were together in the fight against Nazism" on Poklonnaya Gora (Moscow) and the Memorial of the Red Army's Victory over Nazism in Israel (Netanya). The models of these monuments are showcased at the exhibition.
The exposition contains several themes and features key plots and images that Salavat Shcherbakov has been developing since the early 1990s.
