History and Culture: “Retro-postcards of the Yelagin Island” new museum project launched in Saint-Petersburg

2 March 2020

Since February 28, 2020, the Kirov's Central Park of Culture and Recreation (Saint-Petersburg) launched a new museum project “Retro-postcards of Yelagin Island”. A banner exhibition of retro postcards with views of the Yelagin Island was opened at the Upper Alley near Marina (2nd Yelagin Bridge). The original postcards and photographs of the first half of the XX century featuring the islands of the Petrograd Side and the surrounding territories are showcased in the Stables. The exhibition also includes items from the Yelagin Island Palace Museum's collection.

The exhibitions represent the historical park views, covering the period from the beginning of the XX century, when the island was the royal residence, until the heyday of the Soviet period when the park was known as Kirov's Central Park of Culture and Recreation.

The exhibition "Retro-postcards of Yelagin Island" in the Stables will run until March 29. Street banner exhibition will run until April 20.
