Internet and Society: "Antarctica in Fine Arts" virtual exhibition released on “The Virtual Russian Museum” Internet portal

January 28, 2020, marks the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by the Russian expedition. The only artist of the expedition was Pavel Nikolaevich Mikhailov. Most of his drawings are stored today in the State Russian Museum. This invaluable heritage, as well as collections of different Russian museums allowed to arrange "Antarctica in Fine Arts" virtual exhibition, marking the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica.

The exhibition brought together more than 150 works of painting, drawing, print graphics, numismatics, and photographs from the State Russian Museum’s collections and 14 art museums of the Russian Federation.
