Museums of Russia: "Golden Map of Russia. Painting of the XVIII-XX centuries from the collection of the Chuvash State Art Museum" exhibition opened in the State Tretyakov Gallery

Since March 13, 2020, the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) is holding the exhibition entitled "Golden Map of Russia. Painting of the XVIII-XX centuries from the collection of the Chuvash State Art Museum". 

The "Golden Map of Russia" project aims to showcase the regional museums' collections in Moscow. 38 exhibitions, that presented works from the collections of museums of Kaluga, Astrakhan, Petrozavodsk, Kursk, Yakutsk, Tambov, Samara, Saratov, and other cities, have been held since 1999.

"Golden Map of Russia. Painting of the XVIII-XX centuries from the collection of the Chuvash State Art Museum" exhibition is marking the centenary of the Chuvash Republic establishment.

In 1920, the city of Cheboksary became the center of autonomy. In 1921, the Chuvash Central Museum was founded. The Fine Arts Department was made up of the acquisitions from the State Museum Fund and public organizations' collections, as well as private collections. The Department served as the basis for the creation of the Chuvash State Art Gallery in 1939. By the end of last year, its collection contained 1,036 museum items.

The exhibition features paintings from the Chuvash State Art Museum's collection - the works of artists of the XVIII-XX centuries: F. Rokotov, V. Borovikovsky, V. Tropinin, V. Perov, I. Kramskoy, V. Polenov, I. Levitan, V. Serov, I. Grabar, K. Yuon, K. Petrov-Vodkin, Z. Serebryakova, R. Falk. In total, the exhibition presents 76 paintings and drawings.

The exhibition will run until June 7, 2020.
