Museums of Russia: Cultural center "Evgeny Vakhtangov House-Museum" to open in Vladikavkaz in 2021

The cultural center "Evgeny Vakhtangov House-Museum" will be opened in 2021 in Vladikavkaz, which is the native town of the director, actor, and pedagogue. The event is marking the 100th anniversary of the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater.

Evgeny Vakhtangov spent the first 20 years of his life in Vladikavkaz, in a two-story house on Armyanskaya Street. There he became interested in theater for the first time. Now, this building is occupied by communal flats.

The cultural center's concept provides the creation of a theater hall, which will be the venue for joint projects of the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater, the Vladikavkaz Russian Theater, the National Theater of Ossetia and other art groups of the republic.

It is planned that the stars of the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater troupe will come to Vladikavkaz.  Every month the cultural center will host five or six performances, concerts and meetings at least. The opening of the center will positively affect the development of culture and tourism in Vladikavkaz.
