Information Technologies and History: Raising of the Soviet banner on the Reichstag building to restore in VR format

The project "Unknown standard-bearer" features the history of raising of the Soviet banners on the Reichstag building and other events of the spring of 1945. It was presented by the creators of the virtual reconstruction - the "Immortal Regiment of Russia" movement and RIA "Novosti" with the support of the "Krasny Kvadrat" media group.

Thanks to the work of designers, artists, actors and other members of the project's team, the Internet user may not only look at the events that took place in Berlin from April 30 to May 2, 1945 but also "take part" in the raising of the banner as one of the soldiers.

The project also highlights the history of flags and banners raised on the roof of the building - headquarter of Nazi Germany leadership. It also provides a video about the liberation of Europe from Nazism.

The authors of the project used archival documents, photographs, and drawings to make virtual reconstruction more real. It was based on documents and stories told by participants in the events.
