Society and Reading: Korney Chukovsky Literary Award established in Moscow

The Moscow Government established a Korney Chukovsky Award in the field of children's literature.

The works of contemporary authors will be presented in seven categories: "The best work in prose for children under 7 years old", "The best work in prose for children of 8-12 years old”, “The best poetry collection for children under 7 years old", "The best poetry collection for children of 8-12 years old", "The best translation into Russian of work of literature for children under 7 years old", "The best translation into Russian of work of literature for children of 8-12 years old" and "The best work of literature for children according to readers".

It is expected that the award will be an effective tool to support contemporary children's writers and rise interest in reading among children and teenagers.

The applications will be accepted until the end of June. The final and awarding of the winners are scheduled for November 2020. The contest involves works that are first published in Russian in the year preceding the contest, or in the current year, but no later than the date of announcement of the deadline for applications.
