The British Library has released an interactive archive of their collection of globes, to satisfy history buffs and frustrated wanderlust.
The archive presents 3D models of 11 globes that can be rotated and zoomed into for greater detail at every angle.
Among them is the celestial globe of 1602 by the Dutch cartographer Willem Janszoon Blaeu.
Globes showcase examples of cartographic visualization created in 1602–1783. They include interesting archaic images of the oceans - the "Atlantic Ocean" on the globe by Richard Cushee of 1730 or the "Ethiopian Ocean" in the terrestrial globe of 1783.
