History of Moscow: #MoscowWithYou project released archive photographs

A special online project #MoscowWithYou published archive photographs with the views of the post-war capital.

It showcases photographs of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the first parade, and victory fireworks. Unique archival images are collected in the gallery "Moscow. Victory".

The photographs also feature the musicians of the Big State Symphony Orchestra playing on Manezhnaya Square on May 9, 1945, and the first Victory Parade on June 24, 1945, including its participants - Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov, heroes of various regiments, standard-bearers.

The pictures were made in 1945 and 1946 by the famous TASS photojournalists who participated in the war together with the Soviet troops: Evgeny Chaldey, Nikolai Sitnikov, Fedor Kislov, and others.

Video tours, online lectures, and other educational materials about the Great Patriotic War are also available on the #MoscowWithYou online platform. The Victory Museum released on the project’s website a virtual tour "From Kursk to Berlin" which highlights the key battles. Users can also join online excursions of the museum’s diorama complex and the outdoor exposition of ​​military equipment on Poklonnaya Hill.

The online project "Historical Museum during the Great Patriotic War" is devoted to the work of specialists of cultural institutions. It provides the memories of employees of the State Historical Museum about the evacuation of valuable exhibits from the building on Red Square. The Museum of Military Uniforms presents video lectures about Russian military history.

Besides, the website will launch a special project “75 Words about the War”, created along with the Museum of Moscow. It features the personal stories of the country's defenders with the help of front-line letters. The users will have an opportunity to listen to the letters of the war veterans which will be released in the form of podcasts.

#MoscowWithYou is a special online project launched along with the cultural sites of the city. It provides virtual tours, lectures, theatrical performances, culinary and fashion shows, and much more. The project involves more than 50 cultural sites, their number is constantly increasing. More than 100 video tours were prepared especially for the project.

Recently, the project "Moscow - Taking Care of History" presented the online exhibition "What does Red Square Remember about the War?". The virtual exposition is based on family relics of the Great Patriotic War, including front-line letters, photographs, diaries, drawings, postcards, and military uniforms. The materials are available on the portal of the Moscow social development complex "I am at home".
