Internet and History: New website launched marking the 85th anniversary of the Moscow Metro

The Department of Transport and Development of Road Traffic Infrastructure of Moscow launched a website devoted to the 85th anniversary of the Metro. It provides an opportunity to compare old underground schemes with modern photographs, discover new historical facts, see archival and modern photographs of trains.
On May 15, the Moscow Metro marked its 85th anniversary. Over the years, the Metro has grown to 15 lines with a total length of 780 kilometers. The first train left the depot on the morning of May 15, 1935.
Today, the Moscow Metro takes the first place in Europe in passenger traffic intensity as a non-automated subway system.
