Information Technologies and Culture: Pskov to create a sound map of ancient Russian

Theologians of Pskov State University received a grant for the creation of an interactive sound map of the sacred places of Ancient Russia. The project will provide Internet users with sacred songs recorded in various churches of the ancient Russian cities - Pskov, Veliky Novgorod and Staraya Ladoga.

The representatives of Pskov State University said that the University specialists will develop the project together with colleagues from the Department of Old Russian Singing of the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory. The first stage will be the collection of songs. After, the audio records will be used in the creation of concert and lectures, which will be placed on a virtual map.

The map's interface will be simple and convenient. The user just needs to direct the cursor on the selected temple to learn about its history and listen to sacred songs recorded inside. The map will include information on 14 temples. 11 churches are protected by the UNESCO.
