21 June 2020

The Moscow Kremlin State Historical and Cultural Museum and Heritage Site and the State Museum of the History of Saint-Petersburg invite to participate in the XI All-Russian Festival - Conference "The Kremlin to Children". It will be held on September 15-17, 2020, in Saint-Petersburg, in the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Museums, historical clubs and cultural institutions are invited to participate in the conference.

The theme of the conference is "Fortress, city, museum as a historical and cultural phenomenon and an object of study in the museum and pedagogical society".

It is a historical fact that cities originate from the fortified settlements or fortresses. While developing, the city goes beyond the walls, depriving the fortress of its original function and turning it into the ideological centre, into a symbol.

The museumification of fortification monument is difficult, especially when it hosts the expositions and exhibition halls. It influences on the work with the museum audience, exhibition and educational activities. The specialists accumulated experience in interaction with visitors. The long work in the museums-fortresses helped them to develop the successful exhibition and educational methods.

Museums located in historical and cultural monuments of the economic character and objects that are not originally intended to host a large number of people face similar tasks.

The conference will discuss the following topics:

- The phenomenon of the historical fortress in a modern city. Study of the history of fortifications of the past and the ways of its adaptation for visitors.

- Monuments of ancient Russian and medieval art as an object of study in creating cultural and educational programs.

- The practice of creating cultural and educational activities relevant to the school program. Features of the museum and school interaction.

- Problems of preparing programs for temporary exhibitions for children, an individual approach. "Children's Area" in the museum and exhibition space: organization of work.

- Interactive immersion in a thematic context - storytelling, theatrical approach, immersive theatre, the "live history" format and other methods of historical reconstruction: entertain while teaching or teach while entertaining?

- Children's creativity as a result of the understanding of historical ideas. The use of modern research in the psychology of children's perception.

- Festivals, events, contests - forms of interaction with the audience.
