World History: Exhibition "From Pot To Amphora: Secrets of Ceramics" presented in Samara

24 August 2020

The P. V. Alabin Samara Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum presented the exhibition "From Pot To Amphora: Secrets of Ceramics". It will run until October 17, 2020.

The exposition is devoted to secrets that are hidden in the ancient pottery found during archaeological excavations. Ceramics may reveal a lot of information about the object. Even a small fragment can tell scientists about the ethnic background of its creator, his environment and lifestyle. Interpretation of the patterns allows understanding how the people of the Middle Ages imagined the world.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to touch the living history, see the ceramic dishes used by our ancestors, learn how an ancient full-size pottery furnace looks like, learn to identify admixtures in clay, and the temperature at which a ceramic article was fired.

The exhibition features interactive platforms for young guests, which introduce them to the amazing world of fictile art.

The exhibition presents items from the collections of the "Divnogorye" Museum-Reserve and the Voronezh University Archaeological Museum, discovered as a result of archaeological excavations in Voronezh and Belgorod regions.

The exhibition is intended for a general audience interested in history and crafts.
