Education and Society: Russian State Children's Library to launch the Juvenile Literature and Reading Promotion Department of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute

On September 1, 2020, the Russian State Children's Library (Moscow) will open the Juvenile Literature and Reading Promotion Department of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

The department will conduct educational work, scientific activities and implement educational projects.

"The creation of the Juvenile Literature and Reading Promotion Department of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute at the largest Russian children's library and scientific, methodological and research centre for the development of children's reading will help to make good deficit of qualified young specialists in the field of children's literature", said Maria Vedenyapina, Honored Cultural Worker of Russia, Director of the Russian State Children's Library.

The specialists of the Russian State Children's Library will conduct practical classes in the discipline "Juvenile Literature" for third-year students. Freshmen will get the opportunity to have practical training in the library. The Philology Department students who are interested in children's literature will conduct scientific research.

The library also provides the preparation of term papers, bachelor's diplomas, master's theses and the practice of graduate students. Besides, the Juvenile Literature and Reading Promotion Department will present several advanced training and professional retraining programs for school teachers, university professors and library specialists, including the course "Contemporary Children's Literature".

In the future, it is planned to expand the range of joint projects of the Russian State Children's Library and the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, including educational projects. For example, the library will arrange a permanent educational platform for open lectures, master classes, literary club, and meetings with writers, critics and book reviewers.
