Information Technologies and Museums: Ivangorod Art Museum launched a multimedia guide
The Museum Agency of Leningrad Region presented at the Ivangorod Art Museum a new multimedia guide created on the Artefact platform. It provides a new modern form of representation of the museum's unique collection of works by artists Ivan Bilibin and A. Shchekatikhina-Pototskaya.
The creation of a multimedia guide for the Ivangorod Museum took place within the framework of the national project "Culture" and the regional project "Digital Culture". 36 items from the museum collection acquired 3D format. There are paintings, graphics, rare photographs not included in the exhibition, and, of course, the famous porcelain painted by A. Shchekatikhina-Pototskaya, which can now be viewed in detail at once.
"Artefact" is a new platform with augmented reality technology that may serve as an alternative to museum audio and video guides.
The "Artefact" submits detailed information about the exhibit, the artist, the history of creation and restoration, other additional and little-known information. The user may stop near the items he likes and thoroughly study their details.
To get information about the chosen item on the screen of a smartphone or tablet, the user should point the camera at the exhibit or the QR code on the label next to it.
The shooting of items for the multimedia guide of the Ivangorod Art Museum was performed on equipment developed and designed by the Saint-Petersburg company "Photomechanika".
Having started work in a new format, the Museum Agency of Leningrad Region plans to continue introducing such multimedia solutions for its large and small museums throughout the region.
