Memory of Russia: Exhibition of archival documents about the tragedy of civilians during the Great Patriotic War opened in Russian regions

On the eve of September 13 - International Remembrance Day of the Victims of Nazism - dozens of Russian Regions opened a unique exhibition of archival documents about the tragedy of civilians during the Great Patriotic War and the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices in the occupied territory. Archival papers were declassified and released within the framework of the federal project "Without a Period of Limitation", completed by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Year of Memory and Glory. A total of about 7,000 archival documents (regional level only) were identified and systematized as part of the project. They are evidence of the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices in the occupied territory of the RSFSR.

The exhibition aims at forming a consolidated public opinion condemning the crimes of the Nazis against peoples, preserving the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War and the memory of the feat of the Soviet people.

The exhibitions were arranged by specialists from regional state archives, members of regional branches of the Russian Historical Society and historians from leading Russian universities.

The project, which is marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, includes publishing of 23 volumes of archival documents about the crimes of the Nazis in the occupied territory, research work at the mass grave sites of civilians and educational meetings. The presentation of a unique multivolume collection of archival documents "Without a Period of Limitation" will take place at the International Scientific and Practical Forum "Nuremberg Lessons", which will be held on November 20-21 at the Victory Museum in Moscow.
