Information Technologies and Culture: First virtual branch of the State Rusian Museum in Buryatia opened in Ulan-Ude

On September 24, 2020, the Information and Educational Centre "Russian Museum: Virtual Branch" was opened in Ulan-Ude. It is the first virtual office of the State Russian Museum in the Republic of Buryatia and the 225th centre opened within the framework of the project "Russian Museum: Virtual Branch".

The preparations for the opening of theState Russian Museum virtual branch launched in 2019. The State Russian Museum and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Buryatia signed an Agreement of Intent at the International Saint-Petersburg Cultural Forum. The virtual office of the State Russian Museum is housed at one of the branches of the National Museum of Buryatia - the Ts. Sampilov Art Museum.

The National Museum of Buryatia is a major attraction of the region, one of the largest museum complexes of the Far Eastern Federal District. It was established in 2011, by the merger of four museums: the Ts. Sampilov Art Museum, the M. N. Khangalov Museum of the History of Buryatia, the Museum of Nature of Buryatia and the Decembrists Museum in Novoselenginsk.

The virtual branch of the State Russian Museum will host courses, masterclasses and special children programs on the fine arts, history and culture of Russia. Students will have an opportunity to study museums, theory and history of art, as well as the development of information technology in culture.
